There are very few times when the stars align to create something magical, mystical, and charged with unparalleled energy. Since forming in the fall of 2000, Particle has enjoyed a transcendental rise on the national music scene. The instrumental quartets trademark funktronic sounds combine elements of electronica, funk, and good ol rock and roll. Particles momentum has been unprecedented since their introduction to the live music world nearly four years ago. With the recent release of their debut studio record Launchpad, the band is poised to reach new heights.

After consistently touring the west coast in 2001, the band gambled by deciding to fly to New York City for their first performance east of the Rockies. Playing to a sold-out crowd, the show proved that the passionate network of Particle People was starting to spread across the country. Particle toured relentlessly throughout the next few years, making high profile appearances at the Coachella and Austin City Limits Festivals. The band also became known for staging large themed events such as their annual Krewe of Particle People Party in New Orleans, which featured Krispy Kreme doughnuts served at dawn. They also transformed New Yorks Irving Plaza into a near perfect replication of Studio 54’ complete with go-go dancers, performing disco hits all night to a sold out audience of zoot-suit wearing fans.

Quickly gaining notoriety as one the nations premier live acts, Particle was voted Relix magazines Best New Band in 2002, and garnered a nomination at the Jammy Awards where they performed alongside the B-52’s. Particle has collaborated with a long, diverse list of top-notch talent including Robbie Krieger of the Doors, Buckethead, and Stefan Lessard of Dave Matthews Band to name a few. More recently, the band was featured in the April 2004 New Faces section of Rolling Stone, and has also been lauded by The New York Times for being at the cutting edge of a new generation of acts first building a cohesive fanbase before releasing an album.

Particle tapped veteran producer Tom Rothrock (Beck, Moby, Foo Fighters) for their debut studio effort aptly titled Launchpad. The album is further proof the band is as much a force in the studio as they are on the road. Launchpad immediately received rave reviews from Associated Press, The Washington Post, and Los Angeles Times. Their reputation continues to grow, no small wonder as the band has performed close to 500 shows to date. Particle consists of Eric Gould on bass, Charlie Hitchcock on guitar, Steve Molitz on keyboards, and Darren Pujalet on drums. The bands influences range from U2 and Spiritualized to Kruder and Dorfmeister and Talking Heads. As they continue to grow into a headlining attraction at festivals and theatres, so does the legend of their all night marathon sets where the band has left their mark on thousands of fans. A five plus hour set at last years Bonnaroo Festival following the Flaming Lips won the band legions of new fans and a feature on CNN.

Particles star keeps rising as they continue to appeal to a wide range of fans drawn from the dance, electronic, and jam-rock realms. Their ability to seamlessly crossover between so many genres is a testament to the unique blend of music the band creates. Particle draws from a diverse musical and artistic palette in hopes of creating positive energy and spawning a new sound.
